In December 2008 there was an outbreak of Yellow Fever in Bo city where we are working and at least 2 people have died. It is carried by a particular strain of mosquito. There is no known cure for Yellow Fever but vaccinations can prevent infection.
The government of Sierra Leone will vaccinate over 500,000 people in the Bo district during January 2009. It will be available free of charge to everyone except very young children and the pregnant.
All our children and staff except our babies have all recieved the vaccinations.
